China’s annual Dragon Boat Festival has been the subject of many celebratory sneakers over the years — and rightfully so. It’s majestic, colorful and traditional boat races are a sight to behold, offering up plenty of inspiration for footwear companies to cash in on one of the nation’s biggest holidays. adidas return once more to the thematic for 2020, offering up a traditional embroidered effort on the Stan Smith “Dragon Boat”

Here we see a black textile upper emblazoned with traditional Chinese dragon illustrations embroidered all-over, including across the tongues, toes and heel overlays. The rest of the sneaker remains relatively calm, with let black sole units, black leather liners and insoles, and black laces. Heel branding is removed, while white glaze logos arrive sans Stan Smith on the tongue to complete the design.
