With Sean Wotherspoon and atmos’ epic corduroy-covered creation on the wayand the full-circle link-up with the sneaker’s creator Shigeyuki Mitsui and mita earlier this year, the transcending trainer is setting itself up for a big year ahead. Its in-line offerings are also mind bravado, with fresh new takes on the old classic popping up left, right and center. the latest to arrive is this ASICS GEL-Lyte III “Kobe Beef”

Here, full-leather uppers which are made from Wagyu cattle arrive completely tonal, only wavering in hue at the debossed branding hits and kayano Tiger stripes. The latter partakes in a playful tribute to the savory Japanse dish, as they extend beyond their standard midfoot placement as to resemble Kobe Beef’s signature streaks. The standard ASICS heel counter branding has been swapped out as well, and in its place are debossed Japanese characters. White leather liners add a touch of expected luxury to the pair, while musky pink heel clips drive a wedge between the light pink uppers and sail midsoles. Underfoot you’ll find a clean translucent outsole that reveals some early sketches of Mitsui’s masterpiece.
