ASICS and Brain Dead announced their latest collaboration, the Trabuco Max “Organic Chaos” — the most technical model ever used for collaboration by Brain Dead.

Introduced in late 2020, the silhouette is one of ASICS’ top-tier trail models, and not typically a category one finds subject to collaborative efforts. Brain Dead’s vision was rooted in the neglected and often overlooked aspects of the forest, specifically in molds, fungi and mycelium growth. This design language is reflected throughout the shoe, from the outsole all the way up to the laces.

The shoe’s upper is made to reflect how a trail and wild mushrooms interact with the earth – circular design language embodies rapidly expanding spores and molds. The outsole blends vibrant greens and dark blacks, signifying the lyte of earth with the thriving vegetation of the forest floor. Completing the shoe are the unorthodox laces, which are disruptive while remaining functional.
