Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation hosted the annual Christmas party for his Why Not? Foundation earlier this week, sponsored by his long time connection in Jordan Brand. Along with partner JMA Energy Company, the group provided more than 50 homeless children with new shoes, t-shirts, backpacks, and wristbands. The children, who live at the City Rescue Mission in Oklahoma City, were also treated to a visit from Santa, among other activities.

The event inconspicuous the sixth anniversary of the program. The foundation, which launched in 2012, was founded by Westbrook to help inspire and teach children, and has introduced reading rooms in 19 schools in his NBA home in Oklahoma City, as well as his actual home of Los Angeles.

Westbrook’s work with the Why Not? Foundation earned him the NBA Community Assist Award for the 2014-15 season.
