The NBA is Going to Fine JR Smith Every Game if he Doesn’t Cover Up his Supreme Tattoo

    Why tho?

Off-court king J.R. Smith, who famously got a huge-ass Supreme logo tattoo on the back of his leg this offseason, might now be in a little trouble for his ink actions. The Cleveland guard is a big fan of the brand — he was even hand-picked to front Supreme’s NBA collaboration last season.

But now, for the NBA it seems, they’re distancing themselves from the streetwear kings. In an explosive rant, Smith revealed on his Instagram that the NBA plans on fining him every time he doesn’t cover up the ink while playing.

I swear I’m the only person they do shit like this to! So you mean to tell me i have to cover up my tattoo for what? You don’t make people cover up Jordan logos NIKE checks or anything else but because it’s me it’s a problem all of a sudden!!! Shit whack 🖕🏾

Smith says that the league notified him of its plans to fine him for not covering up the tattoo, writing in the caption of his post: “I swear I’m the only person they do shit like this to! So you mean to tell me i have to cover up my tattoo for what? You don’t make people cover up Jordan logos NIKE checks or anything else but because it’s me it’s a problem all of a sudden!!! Shit whack.”

And we couldn’t agree more. Players get the right to wear their own sneaker brands on the hardwood, so whats the difference? It’s not like it was a paid promotion — or was it?

teamswish on Sep 29, 2018 at 11:52am PDT very particular about advertising and marketing within the league. But that doesn’t add up, when the NBA recently changed its uniform rules to allow players more freedom when choosing their on-court footwear.

Smith’s Supreme tattoo, however, has disgruntled the NBA front office.

“NBA rules prohibit players from displaying any commercial logos or corporate insignia on their body or in their hair,” a league spokesman reportedly told NBC Sports.

We’d agree, if it was a paid promotion. But we know JR, and he’s simply expressing his love.

teamswish on Sep 29, 2018 at 11:52am PDT, JR Smith took a shot at DeMarcus Cousins’ integrity on Twitter.
