Jordan Brand’s Crater collection gives Move to Zero, NIKE, Inc.’s journey to a zero-carbon and zero-waste future, an unmistakable Jordan identity.

The Jordan Crater collection presents a radical expression of how to design with sustainability in mind. Embracing circular design principles, specifically in using leftover manufacturing waste, the shoes draw aesthetic energy from raw material authenticity.

Rendered in a common base of black and white, the Jordan Crater collection connects future-forward sustainable design practices with clean and minimalist craftsmanship. Ergonomic lasts, along with asymmetrical lacing and strapping, further the natural simplicity. The experimental footwear raises the bar for sustainable design for the Jordan Family and shows what is possible when solutions focus on lower impact materials to drive design.

The Air Jordan 1 Zoom High bridges Jordan heritage and the trash-transformed ethos. Applying circular design principles to a Jordan classic, the shoe is highlighted by some post-consumer speckled Nike Grind rubber in the foam outsole and incorporates recycled polyester (rPoly is created with recycled plastic bottles) in the synthetic suede upper, which gives the shoe timeless appeal, and its full-length Zoom Air cushioning adds responsive feel.

The collection’s namesake Crater Foam is a blend of Nike foams with about 12 percent Nike Grind rubber from manufacturing waste. Uppers are made from a canvas-like material, with reinforcements and webbings built from 80 to 100 percent mechanically-recycled polyester and 100 percent recycled nylon, respectively.
