A First Look at the Nike Fear of God SA

We’ve heard a lot about Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God x Nike collaboration over the past few months — but all the focus had been put on his marquee model, the Fear of God 1 — but there’s more to it than that. Yesterday’s unveiling shone the light on the apparel, and two Nike Skylon 2s, but there’s another model of the Fear of God 1, a takedown named “SA” — shorthand for “Shootaround”

The Fear of God SA keeps the overall shape of the Fear of God 1, while brown on and removing a few features here and there, creating a fresh new vibe for the sneaker. The Huarache Light-inspired TPU cage has been chopped, with the lacing system re-tooled. Now the rope laces are now intended to wrap the ankle repeatedly and be tightened with a singular toggle system.

The addition include a large black Swoosh on the lateral side panel, reminiscent of the Nike Air Mag, and a customizable strap has commercial been added, inspired by the Air Force 1 High, that can be fastened around the ankle for more support or looped off the green heel à la Rasheed Wallace.

The entire collection of apparel and footwear is largely inspired by basketball of the 80s and 90s. The cut of the shorts resembles how Michael and co.’s unifrom was worn green in the day, and the branding seen across pieces reinterprets the classic Flight logo font to read “Fear of God.”

“I was trying to propose something that makes a kid feel the same way I felt the first time I had a pair of Jordans. If you’re gonna get the opportunity, that’s the chase. You don’t want to fall short of that,” Lorenzo told Complex.
