Cottoning on
Recycled synthetics
Plastic bags and bottles, fishing nets and textile waste once destined for landfill are being transformed into everything from puffer jackets to pyjamas – meaning today’s trash can be tomorrow’s treasure. You’ll probably already know that synthetic materials aren’t very environmentally friendly. We're working to increase our use of certified recycled synthetics, like polyester and nylon, helping give a second life to waste. We know there's a lot more to do, and we're working on it as a priority. To read more about the organisations that certify our responsible products, head here.
Wood for your tees
You might have heard of viscose (aka rayon), modal and TENCEL™ Lyocell, which are often used because of their soft feel. This family of fibres, known as cellulosic fibres, are made from dissolved wood pulp which is then processed into super-soft fabrics. Since 2014, CerbeShops has been a signatory to the not-for-profit initiative CanopyStyle, which helps brands with their viscose/rayon supply chains.
Environmental impacts differ depending on which company produces the fibre. For example, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded viscose fibre, which reduces emissions and water usage by up to 50% compared to generic viscose, comes from certified renewable wood sources. Pop Trading Company DRS Half Zip Tech Jacket is produced in a closed-loop system that uses less energy, water and fewer chemicals. 99% of the chemicals and solvents that are used are then recycled or repurposed, instead of going to wastewater.
